Concept – Implementation

The Project Area is located within the borders of Ataşehir District of Istanbul Province. The project area is located at the intersection of Şerifali Yolu Street and Dudullu Street in Küçükbakkalköy Neighborhood, 1971/5 Island Parcel within the borders of Ataşehir District.

It is located in one of the most developing locations of Istanbul in the last 10 years, with many residential and residential projects rising around it. Thanks to the increasing population and changing socio-economic profile in the region, cultural venues, shopping centers, business and residential projects, sports fields, etc. are increasing day by day around the project area.

The project is inspired by “nature”, which offers us privacy and invitation at the same time with its permeable and protective shells. With this inspiration, the contrasting concepts of “durability and lightness” were considered for the design approach of the project. To represent durability, a protective shell is designed with corten material, referring to the old industrial identity of the project site. The hollow placement of this material tells us the story of permeability underneath the shell. As we move to the back of the building, a permeable design is made with glass and it is aimed to invite visitors into the building with this design.

This modern and transparent aesthetic represents social cohesion, modernity and art in today’s cultural buildings. This approach integrates the interior spaces with the outside world, while at the same time making it possible to see the activities inside the building from the outside. In this way, the cultural center provides a transition between indoor and outdoor spaces by bringing the natural beauties of its surroundings inside. In the Ataşehir Cultural Center building, the Municipal Assembly hall, party group rooms, cocktail halls, foyer area, wedding halls with bride and groom rooms and commercial units are planned.
