Esenyurt Cultural Center is a remarkable project where glass and stone elements are used together. While glass symbolizes permeability and publicness, stone material represents locality and durability. The combination of these two materials allows the building to be designed in a way that is both modern and in harmony with the local context.
The building has an L-shaped mass with an open space in the center, creating a social meeting point that opens onto the street without entering the enclosed area. This open space provides an important venue for cultural events, meetings and social interactions, as well as a dynamic space for the local community.
The large canopy designed at the top of the building surrounds the building, giving it both an aesthetic and functional feature. The canopy covers the entire structure from above, providing protection from the sun and integrating harmoniously with its surroundings. The red canopy makes the project visually striking and recognizable as a landmark, thus contributing to the building becoming an important part of the city.
This combination of indoor and outdoor spaces in cultural facilities enables social interaction and cultural activities to reach a wider audience. With this approach, the project makes a significant contribution to the cultural and social life of the region by offering a space that is both compatible with the landscape and functionally rich. This approach strengthens the social role of cultural facilities, while at the same time making the space more meaningful and functional for users.
